About Kindred Hearts

Where Trauma-Informed Support Meets Real-Life Healing

Kindred Hearts is a trauma-informed nonprofit based in Shasta County, walking alongside adoptive, kinship, and guardianship families. We provide compassionate support across all stages of the journey through tiered services that are designed to meet families where they are.

We know adoption doesn’t erase trauma. That’s why our team is trained to support families facing challenges that don’t always respond to traditional services. Whether it’s finding community, accessing therapy, or navigating behavioral concerns, we’re here to walk beside you—not ahead of you or behind you, but with you.

What We Believe

We believe that healing happens in the context of relationships—and no family should have to face the complexities of adoption and trauma alone. Our work is rooted in connection, education, and sustainable support systems that promote long-term wellness.

How We Help

We offer a tiered approach to support: Community Programs like parent training and family events, Counseling & Enhanced Care Management (ECM) for deeper therapeutic needs, and Wraparound services for families facing intensive challenges. Our services adapt to each family’s level of need.

Why It Matters

Many families come to us feeling isolated, overwhelmed, or misunderstood. Our goal is to ensure they feel seen, supported, and empowered—because when families are held up by community, they’re more likely to thrive and stay together.

Our Vision

Our vision is to build a trauma-informed community in Northern California where adoptive, kinship, and guardianship families have access to the care, connection, and competence they need to thrive. We’re not just responding to crises—we’re helping prevent them, one relationship at a time.

When services are tailored, early, and consistent, families stay together. That’s the heart of our mission—and the change we’re committed to making.
