At Kindred Hearts, our mission has always been simple: to provide resources, guidance, and a sense of community to foster, kinship, guardianship, and adoptive families across the North State. Every day, we walk beside families who have opened their hearts to children with complex histories, helping them build connection, healing, and stability.
But behind every act of care and every family served stands a community, people like you, who make it possible.
🌍 The Reality Facing Nonprofits Today
The past few years have brought tremendous uncertainty to nonprofits across the country, especially those in the social services sector. Funding streams shift, costs rise, and government budgets tighten. While Kindred Hearts is fortunate to receive support through county, state, and federal contracts, we know that relying solely on those dollars isn’t sustainable.
To truly ensure the long-term health of our organization, and the families who depend on us, we must be responsible and proactive in diversifying our funding sources. If federal or state dollars were ever to decrease or disappear, we want to know with confidence that no family would be left without support. That’s why community giving is not just appreciated, it’s essential.
💛 Why Your Support Matters
When you give to Kindred Hearts, you’re not just donating to a program, you’re investing in the strength and stability of our entire community. When families receive the support they need to heal and thrive, everyone benefits; schools, neighborhoods, workplaces, and communities become stronger, safer, and more connected.
Your gift helps ensure that:
- Families in crisis have access to adoption-competent therapy, wraparound services, and connection events that prevent disruption and keep children safely in their homes.
- Caregivers receive guidance, training, and respite, helping them stay healthy, supported, and able to meet their children’s complex needs.
- Children experience belonging, joy, and hope — the foundation of emotional health and the key to breaking cycles of trauma.
Even if you aren’t an adoptive or foster family, your support creates a ripple effect building resilience, stability, and compassion across the North State. Every child who feels safe, every parent who feels supported, and every family that stays together contributes to a healthier, more hopeful community for us all.
🚐 Our 2025 Giving Tuesday Goal: A Kindred Hearts Family Van
This year, our Giving Tuesday campaign focuses on one simple but transformative goal… purchasing a Kindred Hearts Passenger Van.
Currently, our staff use their personal vehicles to transport children to appointments, therapeutic outings, and enrichment activities. A dedicated van would make it safer, more efficient, and more equitable to get children where they need to go — whether that’s a therapy session, a respite event, or an outing to build connection and joy.
Imagine the impact:
- Children arriving safely to appointments that help them heal.
- Families participating fully in community activities without transportation barriers.
- Youth feeling included in experiences that shape their sense of belonging — from local adventures to special outings like amusement parks or sporting events.
The estimated cost for a reliable, multi-passenger van that meets our safety and accessibility needs is $65,000. Every donation brings us one step closer to that goal.
💫 Together, We Create Sustainability
In these turbulent times, community matters more than ever. Your donation, no matter the size, directly strengthens the safety net for families in our region.
When you give, you’re saying: “Even if the funding changes, families will still have us.”
That’s the heart of sustainability. That’s the power of community.
